Iranian dissidents have slammed ABC’s ‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg just days after she claimed that black people in America face the ‘same’ level of oppression as Iranians currently living under the brutal Islamic Republic.
The controversial comments highlight the ongoing struggle between ABC executives and the hosts of their flagship liberal talk show, which has repeatedly ignored network requests to tone down their increasingly extreme political rhetoric. Despite pressure from corporate leadership to moderate their positions, ‘The View’ hosts have defiantly continued pushing far-left talking points that often spark national controversy.
Goldberg’s latest inflammatory remarks came during a heated exchange with fellow panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin, who stated: “The Iranian regime today is nothing compared to the United States.”
To which Goldberg replied: “They used to hang black people.”
The verbal sparring continued with Griffin saying, “I think it’s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than to live in Iran in 2025.”
“Not if you’re black,” Goldberg shot back.
“Let me tell you, you’re in this country. This is the greatest country in the world. But yes, I know. I know,” Goldberg continued. “And we all know that, but every day we worry. Do we have to worry about our children? Are our children gunned down because they run through someone’s neighborhood?”
The comments represent exactly the kind of divisive rhetoric that ABC executives have reportedly asked the show’s hosts to avoid, according to industry sources. However, ‘The View’—long known as a platform for liberal activists masquerading as television hosts—has consistently refused to moderate its extreme positions, prioritizing progressive activism over responsible broadcasting.
Iranian dissidents quickly condemned Goldberg for her remarks. Dr. Sheila Nazarian, whose Iranian family fled in 1985, told Fox News that “Whoopi Goldberg’s comparison between black Americans and life under the authoritarian regime of Iran is deeply misguided and dismisses the brutal reality that millions of Iranians face.”
“It’s shocking that Whoopi Goldberg would even suggest that life for black Americans is somehow equivalent to life under the rule of the Ayatollah in Iran,” Iranian-American journalist Lisa Daftari told Fox News.
The incident underscores the broader problem ABC faces with ‘The View,’ where hosts regularly make incendiary statements that generate negative publicity for the network while alienating mainstream viewers. Despite internal concerns about the show’s direction, the liberal hosts have shown no willingness to comply with executive requests for more balanced discourse.
