91-Year-Old Clinton Judge Protects Gang Members
An even more egregious example of judicial activism came from 91-year-old US District Judge Alvin Hellerstein, a Clinton appointee, who indefinitely blocked the Trump administration from deporting Tren de Aragua gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.
In his 22-page order, Judge Hellerstein incredibly claimed that illegal aliens have the same due process rights as American citizens, writing: “This nation was founded on the ‘self-evident’ truths ‘that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, [and] that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.'”
The elderly judge’s constitutional interpretation would grant foreign gang members greater protection than the American citizens they terrorize. During a hearing, Hellerstein blasted DOJ lawyers and accused them of throwing people out of the US “because of their tattoos”—apparently dismissing the violent criminal history that actually motivates deportation efforts.
Pattern of Obstruction
